The disclosure relates to a novel process for producing 1-aminohydantoin of formula (I), in which X stands for hydrogen or an alkali metal, and to a novel process for producing hydantoin derivatives of general formula (V), in which X has the meaning indicated, R<1> stands for alkyl, furfuryl (substituted or unsubstituted), and R<2> stands for hydrogen, alkyl, furfuryl (substituted or unsubstituted) or phenyl (substituted or unsubstituted). This process involves the reaction of a compound of general formula (II), in which R<1> and R<2> have the meanings indicated, with a semi-carbazide of formula (III) to produce the semi-carbazone of general formula (IV), in which R<1> and R<2> have the meanings indicated. The semi-carbazone is then in the second stage converted with a halogen-acetic acid salt to the hydantoin derivative of general formula (V), in which R<1> and R<2> have the meanings indicated. The hydantoin derivative is then converted by a known method to the amino-hydantoin of formula (I). |
