<p>An automatic shape computing method and apparatus for contour shape determining machines, by which the computation of a geometrical shape value and a geometrical shape boundary value from shape data is carried out. A geometrical shape boundary is set temporarily on the basis of the shape data obtained by measuring a work, and then geometrical shape computation regions except the areas in the vicinity of a temporarily set point, a measurement starting point and a measurement finishing point are set while geometrical shape value for each set geometrical shape computation region is computed as the geometrical shape based on the shape data is judged on the basis of the geometrical shape judgement conditions. A geometrical shape boundary value is computed on the basis of the computed geometrical shape value, and the results are outputted.</p> |
