<p>A digital to analog converter (DAC) includes 'shutdown' circuitry that opens connections between the DAC's reference (16) and output sections (18). The shutdown circuitry (12) provides reduced power consumption while permitting the DAC's control registers (10) to retain their values. The invention is applicable to both stand alone DAC and analog to digital converters (ADCs) which incorporate a DAC and can be microprocessor controlled.</p> |
