Automatic screen printing process for continuously fed material such as paper involves the constant-speed transportation of the material in a supported condition in the longitudinal direction. The transport unit's (6) drive, the drive unit (21) for the flat screens (9) and the drive unit (24) for the squeezing unit (10) are connected mechanically to a common power source (14). The screen-and squeezing unit's drives have gearing and a cam unit driven synchronously by the common power source. The screen and squeezing unit are driven at constant speed by the gearing while reduction, cessation and acceleration are effected by the cam unit.
