摘要 The method involves using a solid state laser oscillator in free-running operation. The laser operates close to its threshold value. The laser material itself, e.g. Cr:LiSAF crystal, has a transient saturable absorbtion and works in a transverse fundamental mode. The material is optically pumped, e.g. by flash lamp or diode laser, during which an internal transformation of the induced energy loss takes place. The transformation is self-acting and takes place without the use of an element, either internal or external, active or passive, as a Q-switch. The material may also be pumped through self injection, with a wavelength selective element in outer arm.
