<p>A toe cap for a safety boot is disclosed. The toe cap is formed from a blank comprising a laminate of thermosetting resin which is shaped and hardened by a pressure moulding operation. The laminate comprises two layers of polyester or epoxy resin having a layer of fibre sandwiched therebetween. In one form the toe cap is formed from two such laminates superimposed on each other. The fibre is glass fibre, carbon fibre or metallic fibre which is either randomly distributed, linearly distributed, or in the form of a mat. A method of making the toe cap is also disclosed.</p> |
