The method involves forming a hose or cup-shape from a blank (30) of expandable material such as an elastomer, fixed in a clamp (16) inside a mould. It is then expanded by a medium to engage on the mould shape, and the final bubble shape is formed using the expanding medium or a forming medium or both. The expanding medium may be gases, fluids, paste-like materials, solids, or combinations of these, especially cold air. The forming medium is a heat energy carrier such as hot steam. The final bubble shape is vulcanised.
