Processor tracking and analysis system using emulator

The system tracks and/or analyses the activity and/or state of a processor (11) in a target system (10). The system operates by evaluating processor signals input into and output from the processor (11). A memory unit (12) for storing processor signals provided for the tracking and/or analysis of the processor activity and/or state is integrated in the target system (10). The memory (12) is connected to the processor (11) to be analysed such that the writing of processor signals of interest into the memory and the reading out of the stored signals from the memory is carried out in association with the operation of the processor being analysed. The processor (11) is e.g. a microprocessor, a microcontroller or a signal processor. The processor signals may include e.g. address, data, status and/or timing signals and/or the internal memory or register contents of the processor.
