Safety catch for automatic weapon

The catch has a chamber lever (21) displaced forward to prime a firing pin spring (13) whose rear end is in pressure contact with the bearing face (20) of a control member (5). This member lies between the most forward position of the chamber lever (21) and its a rear position. The spring is pretensioned by moving the lever from a retracted position forwards, and by forced forward movement of the bearing face whilst the firing pin (11) is locked in the rear position by a detent (15,16). The support (14) for the rear end of the spring encloses the pin between the spring and bearing face. The support can be displaced with the firing pin inside a predetermined displacement path.
