摘要 To produce a cylindrical running surface, where piston rings move in contact with the surface, laser hardened tracks are formed where the volume increase in the tracks through the material change is controlled so that the fine sealing between the cylinder wall before hardening with its low roughness and the piston ring is formed by applied brass particles without further finishing. They cling particularly to the deeper free tracks, giving improved clinging for the lubricant. On increasing wear, the piston rings constantly carry off the fine brass particles held in the free tracks, giving a solid lubricant with the oil content. The hardening is through a CO2 laser with brass brushes to give a simultaneous deposit of brass particles.
