The linear electromagnetic actuator consists of an armature (1), stator (2) and excitation coil (3). The voltage (Uspule) applied to the coil produces a magnetic flux (phi) through the stator, the air gap and the armature. This causes a force (F magnet) to act on the armature, moving it in the direction of the stationary stator and closing the air gap. The load or the return spring (4) returns the armature after the voltage has been switched off. The sensor (5) measures the magnetic flux (phi) or the flux density (B) and, with the cross-section of the armature (A), the magnetic force on the magnet can be calculated and also the other parameters mentioned.
