A valve timing control device includes a rotor (17) fixed on a cam shaft (2) rotatably supported on a cylinder head (1) of an engine so as to be accommodated in the cylinder head, a housing member (19) rotatably mounted on the cam shaft (2) so as to surround the rotor, a plurality of chambers defined between the housing member (19) and the rotor (17), each of which has a pair of circumferentially opposed walls (19a1,19a2), a plurality of vanes (18) mounted on the rotor, each extending outwardly therefrom in the radial direction into one of the chambers so as to divide the chamber into a first pressure chamber (30) and a second pressure chamber (31) and a fluid supplying device for supplying fluid under pressure to at least a selected one of the first pressure chamber (30) and the second pressure chamber (31). <IMAGE> |
