<p>An apparatus and method for allocating, linking and using blocks of memory to represent a data object in an object-oriented programming environment, particularly COM programming environments. The invention eliminates the conventional viable pointers, reference counters, controlling unknown pointers and other infrastructure overhead from the data objects.
