Preparation of lyophilisate of acid addition salt of doxorubicin

The following are claimed: (i) lyophilisate of an acid addition salt of doxorubicin which does not contain any structure forming auxiliaries; (ii) a solution of an acid addition salt of doxorubicin, which is obtainable by dissolving the lyophilisate in water; and (iii) the preparation of a lyophilisate of an acid addition salt of doxorubicin, comprising: (a) dissolving an acid addition salt of doxorubicin in water; (b) leaving the aqueous solution to stand at 4-8 deg C until a gel structure has formed; and (c) freeze drying the gel form solution.
