A flexible coil structure or a method of manufacturing the same comprises a magnetic core 410 and a pair of flexible insulating sheets 110 each with a plurality of parallel conductive lines 210, 220 formed there on. The insulating sheets 110 and the conductive lines 210, 220 are arranged and interconnected to form a coil patterned laminate member into which the magnetic core 410 may be inserted. An insulating sheet 230 may be arranged over the central region of the conductive lines whilst the ends of said lines are exposed for making interconnections 420. These interconnections may involve solder coating, dipping, printing and hot-pressing or the use of conductive adhesives. Alternatively the interconnections may be formed by the conductors being clamped together by welding the insulating sheets 110 together at points between the conductors 210, 220. The insulating sheets 110 may include alignment markers 240 and the conductive lines may have integrally formed terminal pads 210c. |
