The entry and outlet mouths for at least the one medium are located on the same side of the plate stack. Inserts are provided in the inlet and outflow channels for flow diversion into meander form. The one insert (10) blocks the one inlet or outlet channel (5) and the other insert (20) coats like a casing area-wise the other inlet or outlet channel. The inserts are produced as individual extruded parts (50), which are joined by a connecting part (30) and are releasably fixed to the inlet channel and the outlet channel (6). The connecting part of the extruded parts has positioning stops (31) for correct position determination of the inserts in the plate heat exchanger.
