An image forming apparatus is provided including a photoreceptor (1), an electrically charging unit (3) for evenly charging the photoreceptor (1) to a predetermined potential, a light exposure unit (4) for exposing the surface of the charged photoreceptor (1) to light so as to form an electrostatic latent image, a developing unit (5) for causing toner to adhere to the photoreceptor surface so as to develop the electrostatic latent image into a toner image, and a transferring unit (6) to which a predetermined transfer voltage is applied for transferring the toner image to a sheet.
