The variable suction area apparatus of vacuum cleaner auxiliary brush can remove dust present in grooves and crevices easily by the operation of adjusting area of the suction mouth. While the sliding part (31) is urged to recede to the rear of the brush (30), the front end of suction part (30) precede forward in which the front end of the suction part (30c) makes the two front ends of variable suction mouth (32) apart by the torsion spring (35) sherein said the two front ends have mouth-narrowed inclinec cut edges(34e) decrease the mouth area in contact with each other. When the front ends of suction part (30c) take apart, the torsion spring (35) located in the rear of variable suction mouth (32) becomes tightened accumulating the elastic force and then the variable elements (34e) are farthest apart, thereby the suction area is enlarged and the effectiveness of cleaning is improved.
