Recovery of acids, especially hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid, from solutions of these acids containing metals comprises pyrohydrolytically treating and subsequently absorbing and/or condensing gases formed in an aqueous absorbing solution, in which the solids produced are removed. The pickle is vapourised before pyrohydrolysed. An apparatus used to carry out the process is also claimed. |
