PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain a dialkoxyethane useful as a stable aprotic solvent from an industrially inexpensive raw material. SOLUTION: A glyoxal diacetal or methylglyoxal diacetal, e.g. glyoxal diethylacetal, is hydrocracked in the presence of a catalyst containing palladium or nickel and having a hydrogen-activating ability to obtain the dialkoxyethane, e.g. 1,2-diethoxyethane. In the reaction, the temperature of the hydrocracking reaction is preferably 150-400 deg.C, and the pressure is the atmospheric pressure to 200 atm. |
