PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress phase transition at a specified temp. in the air and to prevent the deterioration of the surface of a sintered compact by phase transition from tetragonal zirconia to monoclinic zirconia in the presence of water. SOLUTION: This zirconia sintered compact is made chiefly of tetragonal zirconia and does not practically contain rhombic zirconia, peak intensity ratio represented by tetragonal zirconia (110)/tetragonal zirconia (002) (body-centered tetragonal) in the measurement of the X-ray diffraction of the surface of this sintered compact is <=0.7 and the percentage of monoclinic zirconia after hydrothermal treatment at 200 deg.C for 10hr is <=20vol.%. |
