PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new gene derived from Acacia mangium coding for ferritin which has a specific amino acid sequence and is a protein participated in resistance to acidic soil of the plant and useful for breeding a plant having resistance to acidic soil. SOLUTION: This protein gene is a new gene coding for ferritin having an amino acid sequence represented by the formula and being a protein participated in resistance to acidic soil of the plant and useful for creation, etc., of a plant having resistance to acidic soil and enables recovery of planting in lands devastated by acidic soil and increase, etc., of harvest amount of farm products in an acidic soil area. The ferritin gene is obtained by subjecting seeds of Acacia mangium to immersing treatment with water controlled to pH2 by sulfuric acid or subjecting the seeds to immersing treatment with an aqueous solution of iron EDTA complex, sowing the seeds to germinate the seeds, extracting mRNA by an ordinary method from cotyledon, preparing cDNA library using the mRNA, screening the cDNA library by a probe, etc., and recovering DNA by a positive clone. |
