PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon tube enveloping a different substance and having a size which has not here to fore been obtained, and to provide a method for massively producing the carbon tubes enveloping the different substance. SOLUTION: This carbon tube comprises a carbon tube having a diameter of 10nm-1μm and a length of 1-100μm and a different substance enveloped therein. This method for producing the same comprises coating the inner walls of the fine holes of an inorganic substance having the approximately linear fine holes with an organic substance and subsequently heating the inorganic substance to carbonize the organic substance, or carbonizing a gaseous hydrocarbon in the fine holes in a gaseous phase to accumulate thin carbon films on the inner walls of the fine holes, and further dissolving off the inorganic substance before or after the different substance is inserted into the fine holes.
