The supple walled container (1), particularly for use with pulverised materials, is cylindrical or prismatic in shape and has at the top an aperture for filling and slings (3) for handling. At the bottom it has an openable aperture, for emptying the container, which is formed from a continuation of the side wall. It is blocked in the closed position by a supple wall (7), formed by folding the material, and retained by bands (8). The bands are connected to the side walls and secured centrally underneath the bottom by braids (14), attached to the bands, which are knotted together and can be released remotely by pulling a cord (31).
