<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect deterioration of a catalytic device, in a device and a method for supervising an exhaust emission control system. SOLUTION: A device comprises a catalytic device 3 promoting oxidation or reduction of a harmful component contained in exhaust gas of an engine 1, nitrogen oxide gas sensor 4 arranged behind the catalytic device 3 further to generate an output corresponding to concentration of a nitrogen oxide(NOx) contained in exhaust gas, amplifier amplifying the output of the nitrogen oxide gas sensor 4 further to produce an output when a harmful component amount exceeds a specified value and a catalytic deterioration display device actuated by the output of the amplifier. In a device and a method for supervising an exhaust emission control system, reducing action of a nitrogen oxide(NOx) and oxidizing action of carbon monoxide(CO) and hydrocarbon(HC) in the catalytic device can be detected by the nitrogen oxide(NOx) gas sensor.</p> |
