PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency of gallery excavation. SOLUTION: This excavator has a cutter 21 excavating a bedrock 14 in a specified sectional shape and a frame 22 bearing the peripheral walls of drifts 2, 3 formed by the cutter 21. The frame 22 is divided properly in the circumferential direction, and formed movably towards the inside of a machine body. The frame 22 is divided into front and rear sections in the direction of excavation, and a shield jack 50 for giving specified driving force is mounted between the front-section frame 23 and the rear-section frame 24. According to the constitution, the full face tunneling of the drifts 2, 3 is conducted while timbering can be performed in parallel, and an improvement in the operating efficiency of excavation is attained. This excavator can be carried out easily through a gallery by reducing the diameters of the frames after excavation. |
