PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain both a recording medium providing a printed material keeping high-quality printing, excellent in water resistance, especially water resistance of dripping water and a coating solution useful for producing the recording medium and to provide both a method for producing the recording medium using the coating solution and a method for ink-jet recording. SOLUTION: This coating solution comprises at least 4.0-9.0wt.% of amorphous fine powder silica, 2.0-6.0wt.% of a binder, 0.5-2.5wt.% of benzethonium chloride, 0.5-2.5wt.% of benzalkonium chloride and 60.0-93.0wt.% of water. At least one side of a substrate is provided with an ink receiving coated layer consisting essentially of 30-60wt.% based on the solid content of the whole coating compound of amorphous fine powder silica, 20-40wt.% of a binder, 5-20wt.% of benzethonium chloride and 5-20wt.% of benzalkonium chloride in the ratio of 2-10g/m<2> to give the objective recording medium, etc. |
