PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the burden on a CPU and to dispense with an expensive CPU by a constitution wherein controlling of operations of detection of loading or unloading of a print head, maintenance at a time when the print head is exchanged and printing is executed by means of a hard logic circuit in a printer. SOLUTION: An ASIC circuit 24 controls a sucking operation of a purge device to a print head 5 in accordance with a detection result received from a head loading/unloading sensor 40 and outputs a signal in connection with go/no-go of a printing operation to a CPU 21 in accordance with a detection result received from a residual ink quantity sensor 41. The ASIC circuit executes the above operations, so that the burden on the CPU 21 is reduced and the operations are speeded up as a whole. |
