PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a motor driving a feed roller carrying a document while pressing against a readout head so as to output a little higher torque than the torque required for carrying a paper sheet. SOLUTION: Before readout scanning of a document, a motor is driven by a low torque command value under the condition in which the extreme end of the document is sandwiched between a feed roller 5 and a readout head 3, and whether the motor is normally rotated or not is judged by whether the document is correctly fed or not. When it is abnormal, the motor is driven by a little higher torque command value, the operation judging whether the motor is normally rotated or not is repeated, the torque command value when the motor is normally operated is set as the torque command value for scanning, thereafter, the document is returned to the original position, the motor is driven by the torque command value, and readout scanning of the document is carried out. |
