PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the repetition of recording and elimination stably by a method wherein a heat sensitive head for elimination is contacted with the indicating area of reversible heat sensitive recording medium from a printing area before the indicating area to eliminate a visible image indicated on the indicating area. SOLUTION: When recording and elimination are repeated on a reversible heat sensitive recording medium 1, having an indicating area 1b and a printing area 1a, using a recording head 5 and a heat sensitive head 6 for elimination, a heating area is selected by a heating area selecting unit 28 including a given range before the indicating area 1b or before and after the printing area 1a, then, the heat sensitive head 6 for elimination is contacted with the heating area of the selected reversible heat sensitive recording medium 1 to remove dust or dirt, adhered to the heat sensitive head 6 for elimination by friction between the printing area 1a, having a larger surface roughness than that of the indicating area 1b, and the heat sensitive head 6 for elimination and, thereafter, the heat sensitive head for elimination is contacted with the indicating area 1b. In order to do that, a heat resistance between the heat sensitive head 6 for elimination and the indicating area is reduced to eliminate a recorded visible image surely. |
