An apparatus to treat waste water, e.g. from car washers, consists of a number of reservoirs (1-3) connected together. A solids collection vessel (1) receives the water and allows dirt particles to sink. Oil is then separated (2) from the water before passing to the final reservoir (3). This contains a first pipe (6), provided with an ozone (O3) injector (7), and returns the water to the reservoirs. A second extraction pipe (8) contains a filter (5) and leads to a buffer tank (4) to which the first pipe (6) is connected.
