Treatment of diabetes with a glucokinase gene

A process of treating a diabetic patient. The process includes the step of administering to the patient a DNA segment which includes a glucokinase gene and a promoter sequence. In the DNA segment, the promoter sequence is operably linked to the glucokinase gene and is effective for the expression of a therapeutically effective amount of glucokinase in the diabetic patient.
