The present invention discloses compounds of formula I; wherein R1 is, for example, alkyl from 1 to 20 carbon atoms or phenylalkyl from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, the radicals of which are unsubstituted or are substituted; R2, R3 and R4, independently from one another, are phenyl or biphenyl, the radicals of which are unsubstituted or are substituted; wherein the sum of Hammett constants of substituents over R2, R3 and R4 aromatic radicals is between +0.36 and +2.58; R8, R9, R14, R15, and R16 are, for example, alkyl from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, phenylalkyl from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or phenyl, and G is a radical which can form positive ions, they are adequate as photoinitiators for photopolymerizables compositions containing acid groups in the presence of a coinitiator, if desired.
