The optical surveillance system has an optical receiver focussing incoming infra-red radiation. The surveillance system is mounted on a gyroscope stabilised frame. The frame rotates in two perpendicular axes. The optical system has three channels. The first channel has a focussing and image detection system operating at 1.06 microns. The second channel has a second image detection system operating around 0.7 microns. The third optical channel transmits a 10.6 micron laser signal, and receives the return via a mirror prism (PR1,PR2) and detection (D3 system.
