GEAR SELECTION MECHANISM

A derailleur gear selection mechanism for a bicycle having front and rear derailleur mechanisms. The mechanism has an operating member (11) and a gear selection device (14). The operating member (11) is coupled to the gear selection device (14) and the gear selection device is adapted to receive two gear change cables (16). One gear change cable operates the front derailleur mechanism and the other gear change cable operates the rear derailleur mechanism. Operation of the operating member (11) causes the gear selection device (14) to operate the gear change cables (16) to select a front and rear gear combination.
