<p>A tire having a large gripping force even when a vehicle travels on a slippery road surface on which a water film is formed. A tire (10) is characterized in that fiber layer chips (22) having water swelling property are set in the interior of sipings (26) formed in each block, by forcibly opening the sipings (26). In this fiber layer chip-carrying tire, the fiber layer chips absorb the water on a road surface and project from a ground contacting surface of a tread thereof even when the road surface is a water film-carrying frozen road surface. The projected fiber layer chips then slip into the frozen road surface beneath the water film, and ice columns are formed in the fiber network constituting the fiber layer chips. Accordingly, the tire displays a large gripping force.</p> |
