An apparatus provided on a folding press with a press table (1) and a punch slide (2), and including a V-shaped support (5) consisting of a series of basic V-shaped elements (12, 13) arranged in a longitudinally aligned row and each supporting rack shoes (8, 108) placed at adjustable spacings on the upper surface (9, 10) of the V-shaped supporting element (12). The shoes (8, 108) support longitudinal bearing rods (22, 122) forming the side surfaces engaged by the metal sheet during folding. The spacing between the bearing surfaces defined by the bearing rods (22, 122) as well as the length of the working surface of the press are thus readily adjustable.
