A defensive and assault baton known as a GK "Tonfa" is disclosed. The Tonfa comprises a stock forming a handle perpendicular to the body of the Tonfa. These elements form an integral member that is (i) moulded in a single step from a polycarbonate blend or another material having similar or identical properties, and (ii) over-moulded with a polyurethane blend such as Sentoprene or another material having similar or identical properties, on the portions located, e.g., (a) at the back of the handle and (b) at the front of the handle, but not the ends of the Tonfa. A low-cost Tonfa produced using a high-speed production method may thus be achieved. The Tonfa is extremely solid, relatively long-lasting, lightweight and therefore easy to handle, and has anti-vibrational properties provided by the over-moulded polyurethane blend. Indeed, the rapid recovery of the Tonfa following an impact enables the user to avoid being weakened by blows received and to retain his or her ability to retaliate.
