The medical monitoring device has at least a measuring device(1) which in response to a control signal provides measurement data, and has a control unit (2) for processing and recording data, which sends the control signal to the measuring device (1). The device has also a mercury type position detection system (3), connected to the control unit (2), which detects its own position and provides, as a function of its position, position data to the control unit (2). This position data is used by the control unit to ensure that the control signal (Mc, Mt, Md) has a periodicity which is a function of at least the last position data given by the position detector.
