The disclosure involves an apparatus for coupling a rope to a connecting member having a socket and a wedge portion. In the improvement, the rope has a enlarged end received in the wedge portion and the wedge portion is received in the socket and is interposed between such socket and the enlarged end. The enlarged end, preferably shaped like a truncated cone or ellipsoid, is formed by "fanning" the rope strands and encapsulating such strands with plastic, lead or the like. A new method for providing a connection point at a rope end is also disclosed. |
