The invention relates to an actuator device for displacing a vent damper of a ventilation apparatus between open and closed positions with respect to a vent opening defined by the ventilation apparatus. The device includes a piston/cylin der mechanism including a cylinder within which a paste-like substance having a high coefficient of expansion is contained, this substance acting on the piston, thro ugh its expansion due to temperature increases, for displacing the piston, which in turn can provide for displacement of the vent damper of an associated ventilation apparatus. Reverse displacement of the vent damper will be induced by a spring acting directly or indirectly on the piston, contraction of the substance in the cylinder due to temperature decreases being required to permit such reverse displacement. |
