A sideframe pedestal jaw (50) accommodates a bearing adapter (70) which locks the adapter (70) to the sideframe (12), thereby preventing it from all forms of movement within the pedestal jaw opening (35). Locking the bearing adapter (70) forces the bogie axles (16) to remain at a right angle with respect to the sideframes (12). Maintaining this right angular relationship substantially curtails bogie warpage, which induces wheel misalignment that leads to undesirable bogie hunting and high speed instability.
