A description is given of a process for the preparation of compounds of the general formula
or of the salts thereof that are acceptable from the pharmaceutical point of view, which consists in binding, in appropriate solvents, the nitrogen atom of the imidazole group of an initial compound of the general formula
to a benzyl compound of the general formula
in order to obtain a compound of the general formula
and subjecting this compound, which in addition to the imidazole function includes other moieties of the molecule that are consistent with the necessary chemical transformations, to reactions which differ with regard to the order of the synthesis phases, the protecting groups needed, the conditions of exposure and the activation of the benzyl position. These compounds, which are angiotensin II blockers, are used in the treatment of hypertension or of heart failure, or in the prevention of renal insufficiency.
|
