The shaft bearing has a fixed base and an upper shell (20) which is secured to the base by two screws (18) straddling the shaft. One end of the base and shell has a shaped recess for the bearing. The mating faces (24) under the screws have one face (24a) recessed to spread the tightening torque to the bearing. The recess is in the upper shell mating face and includes an edge groove (38) to operate as a lubricant duct. The recesses are separated from the shaft bore by narrow lips. ADVANTAGE - Simple design for increased tightness.
