Continuous production of thin silicone rubber film

A cast elastic film (17) made from a two-component silicone rubber is claimed. Also claimed are (A) a process for film production, in which a homogenous mixture of both fluid rubber components and additives is produced in a metering and mixing unit and cast continuously onto an endless belt (11), where it is heated until vulcanised, then continuously drawn off; and (B) process equipment comprising rubber component storage vessels (1, 2) feeding metering pumps (3, 4) for both rubber components, one or more additive metering units (5), a mixer (8), film casting head (10) and an endless casting belt (11) with a variable speed drive (22), where film (17) temperature is controlled by heaters (14) and chillers (15) along the belt (11) and the film (17) is drawn from the belt (11) by a take-off unit (16) and fed to a tempering oven (18) followed by a slitter or coiling drum (19).
