PURPOSE:To stably obtain an image of high quality by incorporating phenol resin in the surface layer of the electrostatic charging member for electrophotography which contacts an electrophotographic sensitive body. CONSTITUTION:The electrostatic charging member 1 is constituted by laminating a base layer 3 and the surface layer 4 on a conductive base 2 in order. The conductive base 2 serves as the center shaft of the electrostatic charging member 1 and is formed in a column or plate shape. The electrostatic charging member 1 is applied with a voltage from an external power source 5 to charge electrostatically the electrophotographic sensitive body 6 which is arranged in contact with the electrostatic charging member 1. The phenol resin is incorporated in the surface layer 2 to obtain stable potential characteristics, image defects are a few, and a leak due to a pinhole is reduced. Further, stable potential characteristics and image characteristics are obtained even under low- temperature and low-humidity conditions. |
