The unit (1) is provided for component support elements (3,4) inserted through a slot (6) into a housing (5) containing a printed circuit board with contact elements (8). The edge of the housing carries a standard, e.g. PCMCIA, connector (7). A recess in the side of the housing accepts a chip card.
