The device consists of a frame made from several parallel vertical or horizontal rails with several connecting holes (27) arranged in a matrix about the frame. A fastener (25) can be joined to each connecting hole. The fastener is fixed at the end of a wire with the assistance of which the patient's leg can be raised. A further fixture (35) is provided on a lower part of the frame and has its own wire attachment for assisting with the movement of the patients leg.
