Hydro-power plant system with hydro-turbine

A system for generating hydroelectric power using turbines uses a water power plant with an intake installation to remove part of the water from a flowing stream. Downstream and at a distance are the turbines and generator. Parallel to the stream are the water pipes leading to and away from the power plant. The whole pipe between the intake installation and the turbine is an underground pressure pipeline. Though the main stream may bend, the pipe is, where possible, without corresponding bends. The power plant comprises two units, one behind the other, the higher one discharging into the lower one. The intake installations may feed several parallel pipelines to different power plants.
