Vehicle-mounted device for reducing or minimising conflict situations in road traffic

The device reduces and/or minimises situations of conflict in road traffic, and is for use in vehicles. The device includes an arrangement (1) for deriving an image of the area surrounding the vehicle. It also has a device (3) for analysing the image and/or parts of the image. This generates a first analysis signal in dependence on the evaluation. The device also includes an arrangement (2) to determine the driving characteristics of the vehicle. These characteristics are evaluated (4) and used to generate a second analysis signal. A processor device (5) compares the first and second analysis signals. The processor (5) has means (7) to determine a physical limit (G) to reduce a conflict situation in dependence on the comparison results. The processor (5) also has means (6) for generating control signals at least for the means affecting the vehicle drive characteristics, especially the brakes, accelerator and/or steering mechanism of the vehicle, after reaching or exceeding the physical limit in dependence on the first and second analysis signals.
